Meeting Points

Off Stream collaborated with ten museums in four cities of Greece promoting the equal inclusion of people with disabilities in the experience of Art.

From 12 of October till 7 of December 2023, ten collaborating museums in Greece became “meeting points“, where we gathered around a selected artwork to discover its characteristics, get to know the history of its creator and collectively compose its creative audio description, through a participatory process.

Each of the 75-minute long public events were addressed equally to adults with and without disabilities. All events were conducted in Greek language providing interpretation in Greek Sign Language and tactile aids.

In the space of EMST, next to the artwork of Yiannis Kounellis, the audience of the Meeting Point 03 is gathered. The room is all white with a very high ceiling and the artwork is an installation that occupies a large part of the room. The audience is seated in a semi-circle near the artwork and observes it.

The creative audio descriptions resulting from the Meeting Points participatory events formed the basis for the collection of inclusive postcards, curated by Off Stream and designed by artist Hichem Merouche, copies of which will be available in the gift-shops of the participating museums.

These fully inclusive postcards offer much more than a visual arts “panorama” to representative artworks from Greek museums, providing the participating museums with resources to expand the accessibility of their collections.

Meeting Points is a project by Off Stream implemented in collaboration with 10 Greek museums under the auspices and with the financial support of the Greek Ministry of Culture.

The events at the B&E Goulandris Foundation and the Contemporary Art Museum ‘Constantin Xenakis’ were implemented with a donation from the Ioannis S. Latsis Foundation within the framework of the “Points of Support” program co-financed by 10 charitable organizations.
