Mind’s Eye is a project aiming to bring in contact with art blind and visually impaired persons.

The project was designed by Off Stream and was implemented in 2020 in collaboration with the MOMus-Museum of Contemporary Art and the Center for the Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind – Thessaloniki’s Branch in the framework of the START-Create Cultural Change capacity building program 2019/20.

The aim of the project was the inclusion of persons with visual impairment in the various aspects of contemporary art. Additional goal was to raise awareness of cultural professionals and the public on matters of social inclusion of people with visual impairment in the experience of cultural goods.

For the development of the applications several professionals from different fields of expertise worked with the museum staff and a focus group of people with visual impairment from the CERB-Thessaloniki, who provided guidance and tested all applications, ensuring their functionality.

The result of this pilot project was the creation of a cohesive net of interconnected applications that combine audio and tactile stimuli and propose a different way of getting in contact and perceiving art, beyond sight. The inclusive applications of Mind’s Eye, after the conclusion of the project, were donated to the museum, where they are presented until today, providing access to people with visual impairment to selected artworks of the museum’s permanent collection.
