Building Bridges

at ΕΜΣΤ | National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens.

A man with a shaved head and long blond beard stands smiling in front of a screen, holding a white cane, next to a woman with gray hair tied back and dressed in black.

On Thursday 10 and Friday 11 of July, in collaboration with the Accessibility Support Academy, we delivered the training programme Building Bridges at EMΣT | National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens.

The aim of the programme was to train museum staff in mobility and orientation techniques in order to support visitors with visual impairments, through experiential exercises, open discussion and hands-on practice.

As part of the programme, Liberty Guide Dogs also participated, offering valuable insight into the role of guide dogs and the importance of independent mobility for persons with visual impairments.

A woman wearing a sleep mask is guided by a black Labrador in a harness, with a trainer nearby, inside a museum.

We warmly thank the staff of EMΣT for their active participation, engagement, and commitment to fostering a more accessible and inclusive cultural environment.

Off Stream is firmly committed to promoting universal accessibility in the cultural sector. Through specialised programmes and collaborations with community members and cultural institutions, we work towards creating environments where inclusive participation is not only encouraged but recognised as a fundamental right.

In a spacious and colorful space of the museum, the staff practices accompaniment techniques in duets.
