Senses in Dialogue: A Participatory Approach to the Accessibility of the IMMA Collection
The accessibility study for the collection of the Foundation of the Museum of the Macedonian Struggle and the Modern History of Macedonia (IMMA) is the outcome of a collaboration between Off Stream and IMMA within the framework of the project “Senses in Dialogue: A Participatory Approach to the Accessibility of the IMMA Collection”, funded in 2025 by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, Directorate of Modern Cultural Heritage. The project explored new ways of engaging with the museum’s collection through a multisensory and participatory process, placing the experiences, knowledge and needs of persons with sensory impairments at its centre. Through workshops, consultations, testing sessions and collaborative exchanges, the study examined how museum collections can become more accessible, meaningful and inclusive for a wider range of visitors. Its findings propose practical approaches, methodologies and tools that can support the museum in strengthening inclusion and developing more accessible cultural experiences.
