Colour on Canvas
A Multi-sensory History of Art
Off Stream, in collaboration with the National Federation of the Blind in Greece, organised a unique series of Art History lectures addressed equally to blind, visually impaired and sighted persons.
The Colour on Canvas project is a pioneering approach to Art History education, aiming to introduce participants to fundamental concepts of artistic creation and key movements from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century.
Through a blend of historical insights, tactile representations and musical stimuli, participants explored the movements of Realism, Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, with the lectures culminating in the study of Fauvism and Expressionism.
The series comprised six lectures, held online from 23rd October to 18th December 2024. 22 people from around Greece attended the series of lectures.
The Colour on Canvas project is implemented by the National Federation of the Blind in collaboration with Off Stream, with financial support from the Greek Ministry of Culture.
